The New York Giants should just sign this wide receiver and be done with it.

The New York Giants' wide receiver room is in a state of flux heading into training camp. There is a chance that Malik Nabers won't be ready by Week 1, and the Giants don't exactly have enviable options behind him.

Yes, New York signed Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III in the early stages of free agency, and it drafted Malachi Fields. The Giants also added Odell Beckham Jr. as well as JuJu Smith-Schuster last month.

But none of those players can come close to replacing Nabers if he ends up sidelined, and it seems fair to say that New York might not even have a clear-cut No. 2 receiver on its roster right now.

The good news for the Giants is that there are still several capable wide outs remaining on the open market, and one of them is Keenan Allen.

In fact, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox has named New York as one of the top potential landing spots for Allen, who spent 2025 with the Los Angeles Chargers and caught 81 passes for 777 yards and four touchdowns.

Is Allen the same weapon who made six Pro Bowls between 2017 and 2023? No, but he is still a very productive player who has finished with less than 700 yards just once in his 13-year NFL career, and that came in 2016 when he played in just one game.

Allen is a savvy, sure-handed veteran who would present Jaxson Dart with a very dependable outlet on short and intermediate routes, and he would absolutely make the young quarterback's job much easier.

To be perfectly honest, the Giants should consider adding Allen even if they know for sure that Nabers is going to be fully ready to go by the season opener.

Again, New York's depth behind Nabers is questionable. Mooney does have a 1,000-yard campaign under his belt and nearly achieved a second one in 2024, but he has been wildly inconsistent throughout his career. Austin is a decent slot option and nothing more. Fields is just a rookie.

Beckham hasn't played in two years, and while Smith-Schuster has produced, he isn't remotely close to the player he once was.

And yes, the Giants have Darius Slayton, but Slayton had an awful year in 2025, and he himself is recovering from core muscle surgery.

New York has a tick over $10 million in cap room, so it has enough to bring in another receiver, especially if it makes a roster cut or two.

Allen should 100 percent be on the Giants' radar. John Harbaugh would be silly not to give him a call.
