The New York Giants have been connected to a rather confusing trade.
The New York Giants are preparing to decide what they will do with the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft, and they also must get things settled with disgruntled defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.
Lawrence has requested a trade due to dissatisfaction with his contract, which has two years remaining with no more guaranteed money.
The Giants are trying to work things out with Lawrence, but if they find a trade offer they really like, they could move the three-time Pro Bowler.
In the meantime, Bleacher Report's Moe Moton has pitched a really strange trade for New York, linking the club to Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane.
"The Giants have running backs Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr., but De'Von Achane would be an immediate upgrade over them," Moton wrote. "New York can offer the latter in a trade to pair Skattebo's rugged run style with Achane's explosive playmaking ability, forming a tantalizing one-two combination out of the backfield."

Moton then connects the dots with Lawrence, saying that the Giants would have to jettison the star defender in order to absorb Achane financially.
"In order to execute the trade and sign Achane to an extension, the Giants can unload defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence II in a deal. Keep in mind that the team only has $6.5 million in cap space," Moton wrote.
Achane is absolutely a terrific player.
Last season, the 24-year-old rushed for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging a robust 5.7 yards per carry. He also hauled in 67 receptions for 488 yards and four scores, making the Pro Bowl for his efforts.
While the Texas A&M product could boost any team's offense, I'm not sure New York would part with significant draft capital in order to land him.
Remember: the Giants are short on draft assets as it is, and moving some of that capital for a running back just wouldn't make much sense for Big Blue.
