How concerned should the New York Giants be with wide receiver Malik Nabers?

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers looked tremendous during the team's Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals, hauling in six receptions for 112 yards and a touchdown in what was his best performance of the year to date.

Nabers was so good, in fact, that afterward, he began demanding more touches (he was targeted just seven times on his six catches last Sunday).

The problem? Nabers' status for Week 5 against the Washington Commanders is suddenly in question after the former first-round pick was a bit more sore than usual in practice.

Nabers, who tore his ACL last September, was a non-participant on Wednesday. He said he's always a bit sore, but that he always fights through it. This time, however, seemed to be slightly more alarming.

John Harbaugh shrugged off questions about it in his typical cryptic, mind-your-business fashion, but you do have to wonder the condition of Nabers at the moment.

We'll see how the 23-year-old looks as the week progresses, but this is certainly not what the Giants wanted to hear, especially in a season that has already been severely tainted by injuries to Jaxson Dart and Brian Burns.

Nabers, when healthy, is one of the best receivers in football. He showed that during his rookie campaign in 2024 when he caught 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven scores.

Last year, the LSU product played all of four games before succumbing to the aforementioned knee injury.

There were serious questions as to whether or not Nabers would even be ready for Week 1 this season, and some even wondered if he could miss the first month.

Obviously, Nabers was good to go, and he opened up with a six-catch, 69-yard showing in New York's season-opening win over the Dallas Cowboys.

He had been far quieter over the succeeding couple of games, and a banged-up shoulder he sustained during the Giants' Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams didn't help.

But Nabers certainly looked just fine this past weekend with a breakout performance ... until news surfaced that the star pass-catcher wasn't practicing.

Hopefully, it's just routine soreness for Nabers and the treatment he gets throughout the week will have him more than ready for the Commanders this Sunday.

But there's no doubt that concerns surrounding Nabers' health have heightened after the most recent development.

The Giants are 3-1 and sit in first place in the NFC East going into Week 5.
