New York Giants OC Matt Nagy can't wait to work with Jaxson Dart.
New York Giants offensive coordinator Matt Nagy offered strong praise for QB Jaxson Dart on Tuesday.
Nagy, who has worked with Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, told reporters on Tuesday that Dart "is different."
“I was able to watch a decent amount of Jaxson last year, when I was in Kansas City,” Nagy said. “We tried to take as little time as possible watching the quarterback position, but every year I will watch just to see the top guys that are there, and I remember coming away impressed with Jaxson and his accuracy.
“I didn’t know how tough he was and how good a runner he was. At the combine, us not really being in the quarterback market, watching him, just observing how he handled himself in that group of quarterbacks at the combine, you could see this moxie he had, this it factor. When I got here to New York and started meeting with him, you could tell right away that was true. This kid is different in that way.”
Dart finished his rookie season with 2,272 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, five interceptions, 487 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. He appears to have a bright future with Nagy and John Harbaugh in his corner now.
The Giants haven't made the playoffs since the 2022 season. That was the first year of the Brian Daboll era.
Daboll was fired during the middle of last season, and while Dart was close with Daboll, he believes Harbaugh will turn the New York franchise around.
"He was just a coach who I feel like I just bought into the things that he was saying immediately, and just the way that he carries himself and can conduct himself in front of a room and his track record is incredible," Dart told ESPN in January.
"So immediately the winning culture, the intensity, and then just the enthusiasm and love about football, that's what he carries and brings to the team. So, just can't wait to get started and get rolling with him."
