The New York Giants have been named the top landing spot for one of the most unique wide receivers in the NFL.

The New York Giants are in a tough spot when it comes to their receiving corps.

Malik Nabers is currently recovering from a torn ACL, and there is no guarantee he will be back for Week 1. Breakout wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson is headed for free agency, and Darius Slayton just had what may have been the worst season of his NFL career.

The Giants definitely need to address the position this spring, and while the prevailing thought is that New York will select a receiver in the NFL Draft, it's entirely possible that Big Blue attempts to sign someone in free agency.

Mason Cameron of Pro Football Focus recently published a piece naming the top destinations for the best offensive free agents this offseason, and when it came to Alec Pierce, he tabbed the Giants as his supreme landing spot.

"Jaxson Dart was one of the most aggressive deep passers in college football coming out, recording the most 20-plus-yard passing attempts in the Power Four over his final two seasons," Cameron wrote. "That resulted in the New York Giants posting the NFL's highest deep passing rate last season, but the lack of a vertical threat that can take the top off of defenses was sorely missed. Pierce can step into that role and make an immediate impact."

Pierce hauled in 47 receptions for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns in 2025, leading the league with 21.3 yards per catch. It marked the second straight season that Pierce paced the NFL in that category, as he logged 22.3 yards per grab the year prior.

The 25-year-old spent the first four years of his career with the Indianapolis Colts after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and was viewed as bit of a one-trick pony at first, but he has certainly developed into a lethal threat.

Pierce stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 211 pounds, which would make him a terrific fit alongside of the smaller Nabers. The Giants are in dire need of a big-bodied receiver, and Pierce certainly fits the bill there.

The only hurdle is the cost.

New York currently has just $7.9 million in cap space heading into the offseason, and while the Giants can free up some money, John Harbaugh may not want to spend a big chunk of cash on a wide out.

Not only that, but the Colts could simply slap a franchise tag on Pierce to essentially ensure that he remains in Indianapolis through 2026.

Pierce is a terrific idea for the G-Men in theory, but it unfortunately does not seem all that practical.
