New York Giants fullback Patrick Ricard spoke out about his first meeting with Jaxson Dart.
The New York Giants are ushering in a new era with the hiring of longtime Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.
With Harbaugh coming in, the Giants have brought in a ton of former Ravens, including fullback Patrick Ricard.
The All-Pro fullback will help New York in the run game and be a quality pass blocker. He has also shown he can be a pass-catcher on play action at times.
He should be a big help for quarterback Jaxson Dart, whom Ricard met with earlier this offseason.
"For me, he sat down with me and talked for like 10 minutes just to get to know me on my second day there. He’s very accessible," Ricard said about Dart.
Dart is entering his second year in the league, and the Giants could take a jump if he continues to develop as a player and leader. It seems he is going in the right direction as a leader with Ricard's comments, which should give hope to him being the long-term answer at quarterback.
Tommy Gilligan-Imagn ImagesIn his rookie season, Dart completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns on 86 carries.
The 23-year-old quarterback showcased his talent but missed some time due to injuries and a concussion. He needs to do a better job of protecting himself by sliding properly to avoid suffering more injuries and concussions when scrambling.
New York has been aggressive in getting better protection in front of Dart for the 2026 season with the signing of Ricard and the selection of offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa.
The Giants also added more weapons, as they signed wide receivers Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin, along with tight end Isaiah Likely. All of these moves should help Dart continue to develop as a quarterback, along with their young core of running back Cam Skattebo and wide receiver Malik Nabers.
New York has had a quality offseason, and with Harbaugh as their new coach, Dart and the Giants could take a major leap in 2026.
