The New York Giants are expected to make a big splash in free agency with John Harbaugh now at the helm, but I don't think anyone was expecting this.
The Giants have suddenly been linked to tight end Travis Kelce in free agency, which seems absolutely asinine.
Let me just preface this by saying that the "rumor" was circulated by Craig Carton of WFAN, so we should probably take it with a grain of salt.
But apparently, Kelce is considering playing for the Giants because his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, would love to live in New York.
According to Carton, anyway.
While Kelce would still represent a terrific addition for any football team even at his ripe old age, a match here doesn't make any sense.
Why would Kelce — who is weighing retirement — want to spend what will potentially be his final year on a team that basically has zero chance of winning a Super Bowl next season?
If Kelce really wanted to move to New York that badly, he could just retire and do it. He wouldn't have to head to the Giants, where he might not even make the playoffs in 2026.

And if Kelce were really going to depart Kansas City, surely he would want to play for a team that has a chance of winning a championship.
Kelce caught 76 passes for 851 yards and five touchdowns this past season, earning his 11th straight Pro Bowl appearance. He is clearly still very productive, so he would absolutely comprise a great pickup for the Giants.
It's not that New York wouldn't want him. Again, it just seems highly unlikely that the 36-year-old would want Big Blue.
The Giants may look to add another tight end alongside of Theo Johnson this spring, especially with Daniel Bellinger hitting free agency. But they seem more likely to find a cheaper, younger option on the open market or select a tight end in the latter rounds of the NFL Draft rather than link up with Kelce.
