Will the New York Giants make a trade with what's left of the offseason?
The New York Giants have now completed mandatory minicamp, meaning that training camp is the next stop for a team with lofty aspirations heading into 2026.
The Giants have made the playoffs just twice in the last 14 years, but things feel a bit different in New York this time around. While the Giants may not make the postseason, it's pretty clear that they are ascending, and NFC East contention is not out of the question.
That being said, New York's roster still has some obvious areas of concern, and John Harbaugh will have some time to tinker with it before Week 1, which is still three months away. But will the Giants actually make any significant trades this summer?
We've actually heard speculation about New York potentially selling a couple of pieces rather than buying, with edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and cornerback Deonte Banks comprising the primary culprits.
Thibodeaux has been the subject of trade rumors for well over a year now, and Banks' name has been floated regularly in conjecture after a rough 2025.
But at this point, it doesn't really make a ton of sense for the Giants to trade either player, barring unforeseen circumstances.
If another team comes along and offers a second-round pick for Thibodeaux, New York would be silly not to pull the trigger. But considering that the one known offer Big Blue received for Thibodeaux at draft time was a fourth-round selection from the New Orleans Saints, an early Day 2 pick probably isn't happening right now.

The 25-year-old could have sulked after New York selected a pass rusher in the first round of the draft for the second straight spring, but instead, he has been working his tail off and has said nothing but good things — even in a contract year.
Thibodeaux has been a phenomenal teammate, and that is certainly not lost on Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen.
As for Banks? Yes, the former first-rounder played in just 44 percent of the Giants' defensive snaps last season, down from 88 percent the campaign prior. But that was a different regime.
Harbaugh and new defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson seem to have a plan for Banks and have been giving him regular reps with the first team, a clear indication that they envision the University of Maryland product having a significant role come the fall.
Moreover, New York's cornerback room is razor thin as it is. It consists of Paulson Adebo, Greg Newsome II, Banks and rookie second-round pick Colton Hood as the top four. There is virtually no depth behind that quartet. So would moving Banks for a late Day 3 pick actually help the G-Men? Probably not.
Again, unless something unexpected surfaces, I don't really envision the Giants making any notable trades with what's left of the offseason. At least not in terms of moving their own players.
As of now, I fully anticipate that both Thibodeaux and Banks will begin the 2026 campaign on New York's roster. Things can certainly change between now and the trade deadline, but at the moment, the situation will probably remain static.
