This New York Giants rookie certainly isn't a household name, but he just received a rather surprising outlook for his first NFL season.
The New York Giants entered the NFL Draft in dire need of a defensive tackle after trading away Dexter Lawrence mere days before. The problem was that they had so many other holes to address, as well.
The Giants took linebacker Arvell Reese fifth overall because they felt he was the best player on the board. They then nabbed offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa at No. 10 because they needed help in the trenches, and there weren't any defensive tackles good enough to take in the top 10 as it was.
Then, with New York seemingly planning on nabbing Ohio State star Kayden McDonald with the 37th overall selection in Round 2, the Houston Texans traded up in front of the Giants to steal him.
The Giants proceeded to choose cornerback Colton Hood with that pick and didn't take an interior defensive lineman until Auburn's Bobby Jamison-Travis in the sixth round.
Clearly, New York had a backup plan, and it ended up signing both DJ Reader and Shelby Harris in free agency. Those were both good moves.
But is it possible that Jamison-Travis actually could contribute in Year 1?
ESPN's Field Yates seems to think so, tabbing the 25-year-old as one of a handful of Day 2-3 draft picks who could make an "instant impact."

Yates added that Jamison-Travis was one of his "favorite Day 3 run defenders."
Jamison-Travis' numbers certainly don't jump off the page. He managed 36 tackles and a couple of tackles for loss in 2025, and he ranked 13th among this draft's defensive tackles in NFL.com's athleticism score.
However, the Minneapolis native posted an 84.6 run defense grade at Pro Football Focus last year, which ranked 25th out of 887 qualifying defensive tackles.
That's a pretty impressive feat, and it's exactly what Big Blue needs.
The Giants had one of the worst run defenses in football last season, so bringing in some bulk in the form of Reader, Harris and Jamison-Travis should be very helpful.
Jamison-Travis is a little bit older for a rookie, but that actually might be beneficial in this case because it means he has grown into his body even more.
The first-year player will have to battle for a spot on New York's 53-man roster, but maybe he really will be a sleeper heading into next season.
