A New York Giants wide receiver was carted off after a serious knee injury he suffered in practice.

New York Giants wide receiver Calvin Austin III was carted off the field from practice on Tuesday, in what is described as a "serious knee injury."

This would be a disappointing loss for the Giants' offense, as Austin signed a one-year deal this offseason to become a weapon in the passing game. The 27-year-old has been a solid threat in the passing attack for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the past two years.

In 2024, Austin hauled in 36 receptions for 548 yards and four touchdowns. He followed it up with another solid season in 2025, finishing with 31 receptions for 372 yards and three touchdowns.

If Austin's injury is significant, New York will utilize more of their depth at the receiver position. Malik Nabers is the established star of the receiver core, but behind him, Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Odell Beckham Jr., and Malachi Fields could all play a role in the offense.

Nabers had a phenomenal rookie campaign in 2024, with 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns.

In 2025, the 23-year-old only appeared in four games before going down with a torn ACL, finishing with 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns. While Nabers is a great player, the Giants will need other wideouts to step up around him.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart is coming off a solid rookie season, as he completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions while rushing for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.

With a new coaching staff led by John Harbaugh, Dart has the potential to develop into a star. New York has a ton of depth at the receiver position, and if one or two players apart from Nabers can be a quality weapon, their offense could be an elite unit.

The Giants are entering a new era under Harbaugh and should be much more competitive in the 2026 season.

If Austin's injury is long-term, it will be a disappointment for New York's offense, but they have plenty of options at receiver on the roster to replace the production he was expected to provide.
