Can the New York Giants really make the playoffs next season?

NFL.com analyst Eric Edholm believes the New York Giants could make the playoffs next season.

The Giants haven't made the playoffs since the 2022 season, but Edholm is high on Jaxson Dart and John Harbaugh.

"Combine that with a talented defense, especially up front, and the Giants might just have a path back to respectability, perhaps even the playoffs this season," Edholm wrote. "The schedule is a bear, with several tough games, and the Eagles have owned the division the past two seasons, so there are roadblocks.

"But if Harbaugh can instill his trademark toughness -- pretty much all his Ravens teams boasted it -- they could make a big leap. The Giants were 1-7 in one-score games a year ago and might not be as far away as they appear to some."

In Year 1 of the Harbaugh era, the Giants play the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions.

Dart finished his rookie season with 2,272 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, five interceptions, 487 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. He appears to have a bright future under Harbaugh, who helped Lamar Jackson win two MVPs, but Dart can't do it by himself. He will need support from Nabers, Skattebo and Odell Beckham Jr.

Nabers is the key player the Giants need back ASAP. Nabers has 127 catches for 1,475 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns with NYG. He made the Pro Bowl as a rookie and his 127 receptions through the first 19 games of his career rank second to OBJ in NFL history for the most through 20 games.

"Like I said, it's a slog, it's a grind," Harbaugh said about Nabers. "He's still in the middle of it. He's probably not in the middle of it now. He's probably maybe 70% through. I don't know, something like that, 80% through. He's still grinding. It's going to be a grind when he starts playing again too to get back right."

We just watched the New York Knicks win the championship this year. Anything is possible in sports, so let's see if the Giants can shock the world next.
