Maybe NFL fans and pundits shouldn't sleep on the New York Giants.
In a story called "1 Reason Every NFL Team Shouldn't Be Overlooked in 2026," NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report named "realizing their collective talent" for the New York Giants.
New York has a talented roster on paper, headlined by Jaxson Dart, Arvell Reese, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Abdul Carter, Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, Isaiah Likely, Brian Burns and Odell Beckham Jr.
The Giants hired former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh this offseason. Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in NFL history.
"The expectations for Big Blue may be unreasonably high for a program that hasn't won more than six games since 2022, but there is every reason to trust Harbaugh can maximize the roster's potential and get the Giants to live up to these lofty projections," Kay wrote.
In Year 1 of the Harbaugh era, the Giants play the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, New Orleans Saints, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions.
We just watched the New York Knicks win the NBA championship this year. Anything is possible in sports, so let's see if the Giants can shock the world next season and make the playoffs.
Dart finished his rookie season with 2,272 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, five interceptions, 487 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns. He appears to have a bright future under Harbaugh, who helped Lamar Jackson win two MVPs in Baltimore. The Giants also hired Matt Nagy as their new OC.
"I was able to watch a decent amount of Jaxson last year, when I was in Kansas City," Nagy said about Dart. "We tried to take as little time as possible watching the quarterback position, but every year I will watch just to see the top guys that are there, and I remember coming away impressed with Jaxson and his accuracy."
The Giants haven't made the playoffs since the 2022 season. That was the first year of the Brian Daboll era.
Daboll was fired during the middle of last season, and while Dart was close with Daboll, he believes Harbaugh will turn the New York franchise around.
"He was just a coach who I feel like I just bought into the things that he was saying immediately, and just the way that he carries himself and can conduct himself in front of a room and his track record is incredible," Dart told ESPN in January.
