The New York Giants have taken a clear stance on Kayvon Thibodeaux.
For all of the talk about Dexter Lawrence, perhaps the most realistic New York Giants trade candidate is edge rusher Kavyon Thibodeaux, who is certainly in a tough spot behind Brian Burns and Abdul Carter.
When the Giants selected Carter with the third overall pick of the NFL Draft last spring, the writing was immediately on the wall for Thibodeaux.
Thibodeaux is preparing to enter the final year of his rookie deal, and with New York having already paid Burns and Carter in the pipeline, as well, it seems highly unlikely that the Giants will re-sign Thibodeaux.
As a result, the 25-year-old seems to be a prime candidate between now and the draft later this month, and while there hasn't been any movement yet, that doesn't mean Big Blue isn't seriously considering moving him.
Ian O'Connor of The Athletic has reported that New York is "fine" keeping Thibodeaux, but that if the Giants can land a Day 2 pick in return, they would probably move him.
New York currently owns just two picks over the first three rounds of the draft, so adding another Day 2 selection would be critical.

This past year, the former first-round pick missed the last seven contests due to a shoulder injury. During his time on the field in 2025, Thibodeaux managed 25 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits.
The University of Oregon product entered the league with the G-Men in 2022 and had a breakout campaign in Year 2, racking up 50 tackles, 11.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. Since then, however, Thibodeaux has accumulated just eight sacks.
Complicating matters for the Giants is that this year's draft features a very deep and talented edge rusher class, so teams may be less inclined to part with a Day 2 pick for Thibodeaux when they can just draft an edge rusher.
Still, for contending ballclubs like the San Francisco 49ers, for example, moving a draft choice for a relatively proven NFL talent in Thibodeaux may prove worthwhile.
We'll see if New York ends up trading the Thousand Oaks, Ca. native over these next couple of weeks.
