According to Connor Hughes of SNY, the New York Giants are interested in adding a Super Bowl champion in free agency.
Hughes reports that the Giants are eyeing CB Jamel Dean.
Dean has spent his entire NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won the Super Bowl in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 29-year-old Dean appeared in 14 games for the Buccaneers last season. He put up three interceptions, 38 solo tackles, one tackle for loss and two QB hits.
Dean has 11 interceptions in his career. While he's never made a Pro Bowl, the veteran is considered one of the top CBs in the NFL.
The Giants haven't made the playoffs since the 2022 season. That was the first year of the Brian Daboll era. Daboll was fired during the middle of this season and former Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh was hired in January.
Harbaugh is regarded as one of the best coaches in NFL history. He went 180-113 in the regular season and 13-11 in the playoffs with the Ravens.
"This is the New York Giants," Harbaugh told ESPN. "I'm proud and honored to the head coach of this historic franchise, and especially excited to work with the Mara and Tisch families. But most of all, I can’t wait to get started with the great players on this football team to see what we can accomplish together."
Baltimore, led by Joe Flacco and Ray Lewis, won Super Bowl XLVII against the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31.
The Giants have the fifth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Their biggest needs are WR, OL, CB, LB and S, according to NFL.com.
