The New York Giants went just 4-13 this past year, but there is no question that there is reason for optimism in the Big Apple.
Not only do the Giants appear to have a rising star in quarterback Jaxson Dart, but they have some really impressive supporting talent in wide receiver Malik Nabers, running back Cam Skattebo and edge rushers Brian Burns and Abdul Carter.
On top of that, John Harbaugh is now New York's head coach.
That being said, the Giants still have plenty of work to do this offseason, and with New York having just $6.9 million in cap room and only two draft picks over the first three rounds, Big Blue may need to do some finagling.
Could that include parting ways with a couple of mainstays?
Chicago Bears insider Ben Devine has reported that the Giants are listening on edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, two moves that would save New York quite a bit of money this year.
More specifically, the Giants would stand to pocket about $15 million by dealing Thibodeaux and around $13 million if they jettison Lawrence.

New York has Burns and Carter — not to mention Chauncey Golston — at Thibodeaux's position, and the Giants can probably acquire a third-round pick in exchange for him.
Lawrence is more complicated.
The 28-year-old is coming off of a brutal 2025 campaign in which he never looked quite right, finishing with 31 tackles and a half of a sack.
Devine has speculated that New York could still get a first-rounder in exchange for Lawrence, but that seems rather unlikely based on the year he just had.
When healthy, Lawrence is one of the most destructive interior defenders in the league, as evidenced by the fact that he made three straight Pro Bowl appearances between 2022 and 2024.
Now, if the Giants can reap a Day 1 pick for Lawrence, that changes things, but again, it doesn't seem all that probable. New York would probably have to sell low on the Clemson product, which is not something the G-Men should really entertain.
We'll see what the Giants decide to do, but there will almost certainly be some sort of movement here in the coming weeks and months.
