The New York Giants are apparently looking to swing a trade in the NFL Draft.
The New York Giants own the No. 5 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but they don't have a whole lot of enviable capital otherwise.
In fact, the Giants possess just two selections over the first three rounds, which is certainly problematic for a team with so many holes to fill.
But apparently, New York is looking to make a deal, via Paul Schwartz of The New York Post.
"There is no doubt new head coach John Harbaugh wants to see the Giants add a Day 2 pick," Schwartz wrote.
So, does this mean New York is simply looking to acquire another pick by means of doing something like trading edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux? Or is it possible that the Giants are looking to move down in the draft?
Well, Marshall Green of Chat Sports revealed that at the Scouting Combine, he asked general manager Joe Schoen about New York having just two picks inside the top 100, and Schoen replied by saying "we are open for business" in terms of trading down.
Considering that there are really no can't-miss players who will be available for the Giants at No. 5, moving down to acquire more draft assets absolutely makes sense.

If the Giants trade down, however, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities, such as LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, for example.
It would also allow New York to pick up another Day 2 pick in order to more properly fill out its roster, which definitely looks improved after free agency, but still needs some work.
Sonny Styles, Caleb Downs and Jeremiyah Love have all been floated as possibilities for the Giants at No. 5, but none of them address pressing needs for Big Blue, nor do any of them play premium positions.
Trading down would absolutely, positively be the best route for New York to pursue, but that's obviously easier said than done.
We'll see if the Giants are able to swing a deal between now and April 23.
