The New York Giants may need to rethink their NFL Draft plans after this player's performance at his Pro Day.

Heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, it's blatantly obvious that the New York Giants need help at cornerback. Yes, they signed Greg Newsome II in free agency, but they also lost Cor'Dale Flott, so they actually probably downgraded at the position.

Paulson Adebo was a major disappointment for the Giants in 2025, and while the former New Orleans Saints star is a prime bounce-back candidate for next season, New York still needs to add another cornerback regardless.

The problem is that there are probably no corners in this upcoming draft class worth selecting with the No. 5 overall pick.

Of course, New York could always trade down, and after what just happened at Tennessee's Pro Day, the Giants may have to seriously consider such a move.

Volunteers cornerback Jermod McCoy — who missed all of 2025 while recovering from a torn ACL — just lit it up at his Pro Day, running a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash while also posting a 38-inch vertical leap and 10-foot-7 broad jump.

Those are some impressive numbers, and it makes the fact that McCoy did not play at all this past season a bit less alarming.

Had McCoy been on the field in 2025, the No. 1 cornerback in this year's draft class might not be a debate. It would almost certainly be McCoy, and he might have even be a top-five pick.

While I won't advise the Giants risking the No. 5 pick on him now, I absolutely think trading down a few spots to nab McCoy — while netting extra draft capital in the process — could be an idea move for New York.

More and more, I am beginning to favor Big Blue selecting a cornerback in Round 1. Whether that's McCoy or LSU's Mansoor Delane is the question, but I absolutely think the Giants should be taking one of them given their dire need at the position.

In 2024, McCoy registered 44 tackles, four interceptions and nine passes defended, establishing himself as one of the top defensive backs in the country.

The Whitehouse, Tx. native actually began his collegiate career at Oregon State in 2023, where he logged 31 tackles, a couple of picks and seven passes defended.

At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, McCoy has solid size for the cornerback spot, and he could very well be a Day 1 starter for the Giants if all goes well.

Will New York pull the trigger on trading down and selecting McCoy? Who knows, but it is an option that John Harbaugh and Joe Schoen should absolutely be weighing.
