Where do the New York Giants come in a new set of power rankings heading into Week 1 of the NFL season?

One of the big moves from the offseason came from the New York Giants, hiring veteran head coach John Harbaugh.

Harbaugh helps this team with more credibility, especially since he has won a Super Bowl before. But the Giants roster still has a lot of work to be done.

Leading them under center will be second-year player Jaxson Dart, who went 4-8 as a starter last season. Dart threw for 2,272 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions for the Giants, while also showing some strong dual-threat ability.

On the ground, Dart rushed for 487 yards with nine touchdowns. His running ability could unlock a lot for New York, giving them a potentially explosive offensive attack this year.

But before Week 1 of the season gets started, Bleacher Report put together a set of power rankings across the league. NFL analyst Kristopher Knox helped look at the Giants, giving them a position for the new year.

Within the power rankings, the Giants came in at No. 24, despite the hiring of Harbaugh. New York will have to prove itself before anyone can take it seriously as a potential playoff team.

"The New York Giants should be instantly more competitive with John Harbaugh taking over as head coach. He knows what it takes to build a contender and to sustain success, and fans should expect to see glimpses of that in 2026. However, we're probably still a year away from seeing New York make a real run in the NFC East. Despite having several promising young players, the Giants still have a lot of unknowns," Knox wrote.

Much of the success for the Giants will fall on the shoulders of Dart, who will need to take another step forward in his development. Dart burst onto the scene last year, giving the Giants some thought of him being a franchise quarterback.

Having Harbaugh coaching him should help his development, but it'll be up to Dart to take over. The Giants are very high on his upside, but he will need to earn his continued role as the starter.

Overall, the Giants could surprise people this year, even competing for a playoff spot if they can remain healthy. But they would need a lot to go their way in 2026, and that is a lot to ask from a young team like this.

New York opens the season against the rival Dallas Cowboys on Sept 13., which will be the first Sunday Night Football game of the sason.
