This is a massively important game for the 5-3-1 Green Bay Packers. In fact, this clash on the road against the 2-8 New York Giants could end up being an inflection point on this 2025 NFL season.
Let's not even get into the fact that this being a must-win game for the Packers is really an indictment against head coach Matt LaFleur. The Packers have lost two games in a row, and LaFleur desperately needs to stop this tailspin.
It's not just the losses, though; it's how they've lost. He's supposedly an offensive mastermind, but his team has scored only 20 points through two games. Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, they had a hard time getting past the 50, let alone getting into the red zone.
This is effectively a "triage" game, because with games against the Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears (twice) and Denver Broncos coming up in the next five weeks, the wheels may fall off this season in a hurry if they can't beat the Giants and at least get back on track.
A 6-3-1 record feels a lot better than 5-4-1.
These three players must step up in order for the Packers to leave Week 11 with a win.
Frankly, the Packers will go as far as Love takes them. That's life in the NFL as a franchise quarterback, and Love has all the physical tools to be a Top 5 to Top 10 quarterback who can lead them to a Super Bowl win.
The problem is, the past two weeks he's been far from great. In losses to the Carolina Panthers and Eagles combined, he completed just 46-of-73 passes for 449 total yards and no touchdowns. He also committed a brutal fumble against the Eagles.
The Packers need one of those games from Love where he throws for 300-plus yards and multiple touchdowns with no interceptions in this one. If anything, it will make everyone feel better.
Jameis Winston has had an interesting career. From No. 1 overall pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 to a career backup quarterback. He absolutely hasn't lived up to the expectations that were placed on him coming out of Florida State, but he's still cobbled together a decent NFL career.
The thing is, he's a great backup and a competent spot-starter. Yes, he'll throw an ungodly amount of interceptions, but he'll also push the football down he field, play loose and play like he's got nothing to lose.
That's a dangerous combo for a Packers team that has everything to lose in this one.
Micah Parsons was all over the field against the Eagles and he got after Jalen Hurts multiple times, but he didn't record a sack for the second-straight game.
His impact is much more than sacks, but much like with Love, it would be nice to see him get a few in this game. A few Parsons sacks would also go a long way toward neutralizing Winston's deep ball.
Though things feel terrible for the Packers right now, it's worth noting that each of their losses has been decided by only three points.
The kicking game has lost them games, frankly. Whether it was blocked kicks or missed kicks, special teams has been absolutely mismanaged. Brandon McManus has been dealing with a groin injury, which is why the Packers went out and got Lucas Havrisik.
Havrisik was a perfect 10-for-10 when he played and he even set a franchise record with a 61-yard make against the Arizona Cardinals. It seems like the Pack rushed McManus back, though, because he has looked off and has missed kicks over these last few weeks as he's dealt with this injury.
If he can't go in this one, and that sounds like it's the case, Havrisik will have another chance to make a name for himself and right the Packers' special teams ship.
