Positioning in the NFC North hangs in the balance at Ford Field as the Green Bay Packers' explosive passing attack tests the Detroit Lions' struggling secondary in a high-stakes battle for divisional survival.

They don't get much bigger than this for a mid-season NFC North showdown.

The 4-2 Green Bay Packers travel to Ford Field to take on the 3-2 Detroit Lions, and it feels like positioning in the NFC North is on the line.

The winner of this game keeps up with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears in the super tight battle for divisional supremacy in 2026. The loser will find themselves in the NFC North basement, and there's a chance they won't be able to pull themselves out.

For the Packers, it's a chance to extend their winning streak from three to four, which would be extremely impressive considering this team's early-season struggles as well as the injury report.

For the Lions, it would be another notch in the belt of head coach Dan Campbell, who is 17-7 against NFC North opponents since he started clawing Detroit up from the perpetual bottom of the league standings back in 2021.

Key Matchup: Christian Watson vs. Detroit's secondary

The Lions have a ton of strengths, but their biggest weakness is the secondary. That is said with the knowledge that star safety Brian Branch has been activated after spending the start of the season on the PUP list because of a torn right Achilles tendon suffered in December 2025. He's a good player, but nobody knows what he'll look like coming back from that injury.

Detroit's defense is giving up 297.4 yards per game through the air, which is the worst mark in the NFL.

The Packers have an unstoppable deep threat at their disposal in Christian Watson, who should be able to take advantage of this secondary.

Key Quote: Matt LaFleur on Lions' star running back Jahmyr Gibbs

"You cannot relax for one second against this guy because he's capable of reversing field and scoring touchdowns," LaFleur said. "He's got elite change-of-direction skills, he can stick his foot in the ground, bounce one way, but he's also got elite home-run speed."

Prediction:

Packers 31, Lions 24
