PackersRoundtable/EaglesRoundtable Mash Up - Reaction to Packers vs. Eagles on Monday Night Football cover image

The Philadelphia Eagles' defense stifled the Green Bay Packers' offense as a frustrating 10-7 loss plunges Green Bay's playoff hopes and NFC North standing.

It was a tough loss for the Green Bay Packers. In fact, that's about the nicest way you could put it. They hosted the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles for a Monday Night Football clash that could have allowed the Packers to claim their stake as the top team in the NFC.

Instead, it was a sloppy and demoralizing performance. Sloppy on both sides, yes, but ultimately, the Eagles were the far better team in this one. It was a 10-7 Philadelphia win that will give those in Philly plenty to complain about, but the Eagles' ten points looked like an offensive explosion compared to what the Packers were working with.

Credit to both defenses, of course. Frankly, Jeff Hafley's defense gave up only 10 points against the defending Super Bowl champions. The Eagles have plenty of weapons on offense, so to give up only 10 on them is a huge deal.

You'd expect to win 10 times out of 10 if you're Jeff Hafley, Micah Parsons, Edgerrin Cooper, or any of the slew of Packers defenders who played their tails off on Monday night.

The issue for the Packers is that there was a point in the game when Philadelphia was holding onto a 3-0 lead, and that seemed like a mountain too steep to climb for Green Bay's offense.

Yes, the Packers are without Tucker Kraft for the rest of the season. Yes, Jayden Reed hasn't played since Week 2, Christian Watson played only his third game of the season and Matthew Golden missed this game with a shoulder injury.

Yes, the Eagles have a great defense and they brought the heat on quarterback Jordan Love all night.

To only score seven points at home, though? That's embarrassing and unacceptable.

Remember, head coach Matt LaFleur is also the team's play-caller and he's been lauded in the past for being one of the better offensive minds in the game. At times, his quarterback, Love, has played like a top five-to-ten quarterback in the game.

Neither showed up in this one, and the end result was a devastating loss that dropped the Packers to 5-3-1 on the season. Even worse, they've gone from first to third in the NFC North and they're barely hanging on to their NFC playoff seeding.

It was a tough loss. Andrew Kulha of PackersRoundtable laments it in this mash-up postgame reaction podcast with Jon Conahan of EaglesRoundtable. Steady as ever, Anthony Moeglin of RoundtableSports acts as the moderator for this one.
