Could the Green Bay Packers land this quarterback behind Jordan Love?

We know that the Green Bay Packers are set at quarterback as far as their starter is concerned, as Jordan Love has the position locked down for the foreseeable future.

But what about Love's backup?

The Packers lost Malik Willis to free agency, so Desmond Ridder and Sean Clifford are the only two quarterbacks currently behind Love.

Ridder has starting experience and Green Bay has long had an affinity for Clifford, but the Packers might want some more punch on the depth chart.

Green Bay could look to select a signal-caller in the latter stages of the NFL Draft later this month, and ESPN's Ben Solak has linked the club to a very intriguing option: Arkansas Razorbacks star Taylen Green.

"Green might go two rounds earlier as a true developmental starter (think Jalen Milroe, whom the Seahawks took at No. 92 last year). But my guess is he ends up being a longer dart throw who goes in the middle of Day 3, and the Packers are the sort of team that likes to take those chances," Solak wrote.

More specifically, Solak has Green Bay nabbing Green in the fifth round.

Green stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 227 pounds, so he is certainly an imposing presence under center.

The Lewisville, Tx. native threw for 2,714 yards, 19 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 60.7 percent of his passes this past season. He also racked up 777 yards and eight scores as a rusher, averaging 5.6 yards per carry.

Green began his collegiate career at Boise State in 2021 and spent three years with the Broncos before transferring to Arkansas in 2024.

The 23-year-old certainly needs some refinement as a passer, but his size and athletic ability make him a tantalizing option.

Solak added that the Packers' QB2 job is "wide open," and given how much head coach Matt LaFleur values athleticism in his quarterbacks, it's entirely possible that Green could ultimately become Love's primary backup.

The question is whether or a not a more quarterback-needy team will take Green a bit earlier to potentially try and use him as a starter.

Regardless, Green may definitely be a name to monitor for Green Bay.
