Green Bay Packers LB Quay Walker Receives Intruiging Free Agency Prediction cover image

Green Bay Packers linebacker Quay Walker is one of many key free agents.

The Green Bay Packers front office has a ton of decisions to make this offseason, with some starters entering free agency.

Linebacker Quay Walker is one of Green Bay's starters who is entering free agency. The former first-round pick has been productive across his four seasons, but it's unknown if he will return.

The Packers are paying Micah Parsons and Jordan Love hefty salaries, and they need to maximize their limited cap space. There are players Green Bay will have to move on from this offseason to upgrade the roster at positions like cornerback, defensive line, and offensive line.

In Fox Sports' free agency predictions, they have Walker re-signing with the Packers on a deal worth around $10 million per year. This would be a great price for Green Bay, as they declined his fifth-year option last offseason, which would've been worth $14.7 million.

In the 2025 season, Walker appeared in 14 games, finishing with 128 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and five pass deflections.

He is not the best in pass coverage, but he fits well next to Edgerrin Cooper. Walker's ability to swarm to the football is very valuable in stopping teams from getting yards after the catch.

If they can get him on a deal around $10 million per year, he would be worth bringing back, but if it's more expensive, Green Bay should let him walk. They have Cooper and Isaiah McDuffie under contract, making linebacker a lesser need.

The Packers' biggest weakness in 2025 was their cornerback room. Javon Bullard thrived as the nickel, but they had inconsistency on the outside. Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine both had moments of playing well, but weren't premier shutdown corners.

Green Bay's big free agency signing of cornerback Nate Hobbs didn't pan out, as he struggled on the outside and also dealt with injuries.

The Packers need to improve at cornerback and strengthen the defensive and offensive lines to have a shot at winning the Super Bowl next season.

Brian Gutekunst and Green Bay's front office have a ton of work to do as they must be smart with each decision they make to build a Super Bowl-caliber roster.
