The Green Bay Packers have made a move involving wide receiver Christian Watson.
The Green Bay Packers have signed Christian Watson to a four-year, $110.5 million extension, including a $31 million signing bonus.
Watson was entering the final year of his contract and now will be tied to the Packers through the 2030 season.
The 27-year-old wide receiver is coming off a career year, as he hauled in 35 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns in 10 games.
Watson proved to be a reliable target for quarterback Jordan Love and is poised to have an even bigger role in 2026 and beyond. Green Bay allowed wide receiver Romeo Doubs to leave in free agency and traded Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles.
They made these moves to free up more opportunities for Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Savion Williams.
This is the wide receiver core for the future in Green Bay, as they inked Reed to a three-year, $50.25 million extension earlier this offseason, and Golden and Williams are entering their second season on their rookie contracts.
Matt Marton-Imagn ImagesWatson has thrived as a downfield threat for the Packers, but with Doubs gone, he could be relied on to win on the outside more frequently. Love often utilized Doubs on back-shoulder throws and in key moments, such as third- or fourth-down plays or in the red zone.
Watson will now take on that role and be a key weapon for Love in Matt LaFleur's offense.
The Packers are in their Super Bowl window after trading for Micah Parsons prior to the start of the 2025 season.
Parsons was phenomenal, but the end of the season was devastating for Green Bay: he went down with a torn ACL late in the regular season, and the Packers fell to the Chicago Bears in the Wild Card Game.
While Parsons won't be back at the start of the 2026 season, Green Bay has the talent to win games and will be among the NFC contenders when he returns.
General manager Brian Gutekunst is locking up the Packers' offensive core with the Watson and Reed extensions, leaving tight end Tucker Kraft as the next in line to get a new contract.
