The Green Bay Packers could eye physical Ohio State corner Davison Igbinosun. His shutdown potential and press coverage skills could make him a second-round steal in the 2026 NFL Draft.

It may feel a bit too early to start thinking about the 2026 NFL Draft, but mock draft season will be upon us before you know it. In fact, for many fans, mock draft season started the minute the Green Bay Packers' 2025 season ended.

A lot is going to happen between now and April 23rd, when the draft kicks off in Pittsburgh. Right now, the Packers don't have a first-round pick, and they'll start their selections with pick No. 52, which is in the second round.

Not having a first-rounder in the 2026 and 2027 NFL Drafts was part of the price the Packers paid for getting Micah Parsons. They gave a lot to get a lot back in return, and that's just part of the reality general manager Brian Gutekunst will have to work with unless he's able to swing another trade and somehow get back into the first round.

So who should the Packers target in Round 2 and beyond? There are going to be a ton of names thrown around and many of them will be great picks.

The Green Bay Packers absolutely have a need at corner in the 2026 NFL Draft and it would be no surprise if they tried to fill that need a few times. General Manager Brian Gutekunst loves to double-up on positions and he's even tripled-up in the past.

At pick No. 52 in the second round, Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun could be his first swing at cornerback, and it very well could be a home run.

The Packers will immediately like Igbinosun's size and physicality. He checks in at 6-foot-2, 189 pounds and he can absolutely excel in press coverage. In fact, Igbinosun may be too handsy, but that's something new defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon could absolutely coach up.

In 2024, Igbinosun led college football in defensive penalties by a cornerback (16), most of which were pass interference penalties or holding calls.  He showed tremendous growth in 2025, as that number was drastically reduced.

With that in mind, perhaps Gannon and the Packers wouldn't have to coach Igbinosun up at all. After all, size, physicality and aggressiveness at the line of scrimmage are all things that you want to see in an elite NFL cornerback.

"Evaluators now see a corner who can win in press, stay connected through the route, and finish plays without relying on grabs," wrote Land-Grant Holy Land. "That evolution has pushed him firmly into Day 2 consideration, with most projections settling in the second-to-third-round range."

As a 4-star recruit out of Union, New Jersey, Igbinosun committed to Ole Miss out of High School. He played his freshman season with the Rebels and then his sophomore through senior seasons at Ohio State.

In total, he notched 194 tackles (119 solo), four tackles for loss, four interceptions, 27 passes defended, and three fumble recoveries at the collegiate level. Igbinosun was also part of Ohio State's 2024 College Football Playoff championship team, which is an experience that should not be discounted.

As a second-round pick, Igbinosun could be a hidden gem.
