The Green Bay Packers could land a former Super Bowl Champion linebacker in free agency.

The Green Bay Packers are entering a pivotal 2026 offseason to address the roster holes. Green Bay is in an all-in window with Jordan Love and Micah Parsons, and a successful free agency and draft would go a long way in their pursuit of a Super Bowl.

The Packers may have to part ways with some key starters, as they don't have much financial flexibility this offseason. One player they could get priced out on is 2022 first-round pick Quay Walker.

Walker has been a solid inside linebacker for Green Bay throughout his career thus far. In the 2025 season, he finished with 128 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

He thrives at rallying to the football and making plays downhill. However, with his potential price tag in free agency, the Packers could let him walk.

That would leave a linebacker next to Edgerrin Cooper as a need for Green Bay. In ESPN's free agency predictions article, they have the Packers signing Nakobe Dean to replace Walker.

"The Packers are probably going to let linebacker Quay Walker leave after they declined his fifth-year option, which means they need an option to play next to Edgerrin Cooper. Dean is still only 25 years old and arguably stronger than Walker in pass coverage. Dean had four sacks, two forced fumbles and 55 total tackles last season," Aaron Schatz wrote.

Dean would be a quality replacement for Walker, providing better pass coverage than Walker has. He has also played under the Packers' new defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon, with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dean is a talented linebacker who was expected to go in the first round in the 2022 NFL Draft but fell due to his injury history.

He has continued to struggle with injuries in the NFL, as he only played five games in 2023 and 10 in 2025. Dean was able to play 17 in his rookie campaign and 15 in 2024.

He could make a lot of sense reuniting with Gannon and pairing with Cooper at inside linebacker, but Green Bay would be banking on him staying healthy.
