Green Bay Packers Receive Blunt Message on Romeo Doubs's Free Agency cover image

The Green Bay Packers have a key decision to make with Romeo Doubs as a free agent.

The Green Bay Packers have a ton of decisions to make this offseason, given their limited cap space. Green Bay is paying a ton of money to Micah Parsons and Jordan Love, making each move crucial as they need to prioritize who they pay to remain a contender.

One pending free agent whom the Packers may move on from is wide receiver Romeo Doubs. Matt Schneidman, the Packers beat writer for The Atheltic said Doubs is "as good as gone."

Doubs has been a productive receiver for Green Bay and will be a disappointing loss, but they can't afford to bring him back.

The Packers have bigger needs to address, including the cornerback room, defensive line, and offensive line depth.

At receiver, Green Bay already has a ton of depth, and 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden can take on a bigger role with Doubs on the way out.

Doubs had a good season for the Packers in 2025, hauling in 55 receptions for 724 yards and six touchdowns.

If Doubs does leave in free agency, Golden and Savion Williams will have bigger roles. Golden showed flashes in his rookie season, hauling in 29 receptions for 361 yards. He showcased his true value in the playoffs, catching four passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Golden was not on the field often, but he was productive when he was, making him a potential breakout candidate in 2026.

Williams had a quieter impact in his rookie season, catching 10 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.

It's unlikely Brian Gutekunst and the Packers front office would draft two receivers in the first three rounds in 2025 with the intention to bring Doubs back with their limited cap space.

Green Bay will hope Doubs receives a big deal from a team in free agency, as it will help them get a better compensatory pick.

Although Doubs has been a reliable weapon throughout his tenure, he will be paid elsewhere, as the Packers look to improve their cornerback room, defensive line, and offensive line, while potentially extending players like Christian Watson, Tucker Kraft, and Devonte Wyatt.
