The Green Bay Packers have an update on their remaining cap space.
The Green Bay Packers are entering a win-now year after acquiring Micah Parsons ahead of the 2025 season.
With the win-now window, Brian Gutekunst made some difficult decisions this offseason, trading away Rashan Gary and Dontayvion Wicks while allowing Romeo Doubs, Rasheed Walker, and others to walk in free agency.
The Packers have a lot of money on their books with Parsons and Jordan Love, making each roster move pivotal to maximize their window.
Green Bay is receiving an increase in their cap space, as they released cornerback Nate Hobbs and kicker Brandon McManus earlier this offseason, who are now coming off the books. The Packers' cap space will go from $17 million to $26.3 million.
They replaced Hobbs at cornerback by signing Benjamin St-Juste and drafting Brandon Cisse. At kicker, they drafted Trey Smack in the sixth round to be the long-term answer at the position.
The increased cap space from cutting Hobbs and McManus may not lead to a new addition; it will help Green Bay work out extensions with players like Christian Watson and Tucker Kraft.
Watson is entering the final year of his contract after having a career year, as he hauled in 35 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns across 10 games. He proved to be a great weapon for Love and the offense.
William Glasheen / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn ImagesKraft is also entering the final year of his deal, and he proved to be one of the top tight ends in the league in 2025 before he went down with a torn ACL in Week 9.
The 25-year-old finished with 32 receptions for 489 yards and six touchdowns across eight games.
Inking Watson and Kraft to new deals would be pivotal for the future of the offense around Love.
However, the Packers could be more aggressive to make a Super Bowl push and use some of their available cap space to acquire another talented player. Edge rusher Josh Sweat has been linked to Green Bay and would be a quality addition opposite Parsons.
Gutekunst has some decisions to make about how aggressive he wants to be, but the increased cap space will benefit whatever he decides to do.
