One NFL analyst believes the Green Bay Packers should make a blockbuster trade with the New York Giants this offseason.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report has urged the Packers to trade for Giants DE Kayvon Thibodeaux.
"Green Bay can make a move for Kayvon Thibodeaux with the intention of pairing him with Parsons for the long term," Moton wrote. "It's a risky move given the four-year pro's inconsistent production, but he could benefit from lining up across an elite pass-rusher. Also, new Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon can maximize Thibodeaux's strengths in a mixed front.
"According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, multiple league sources expect the Giants to trade Thibodeaux, who has one year left on his rookie contract. Green Bay could possibly get a deal done with a Day 2 pick."
Imagine Thibodeaux next to Micah Parsons, who is expected to make a full recovery from his ACL tear. That would be a deadly combo.
Thibodeaux played in 10 games for the Giants last season. He had 2.5 sacks, 13 solo tackles, five tackles for loss and nine QB hits.
The Giants selected Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Thibodeaux enters next season with 23.5 career sacks, 86 solo tackles, 31 tackles for loss and 55 QB hits.
Thibodeaux had a great start to his NFL career, racking up 15.5 sacks in his first two seasons. For whatever reason, the Oregon product hasn't been dominant the past two seasons. He could need a change of scenery.
The Packers lost to the Chicago Bears in the 2026 playoffs' wild-card round. Green Bay hasn't won a playoff game since 2023.
Chicago outscored Green Bay 25-6 to win. The team could have used Parsons, who likely would have made Caleb Williams' life more difficult. Parsons had a stellar first season with the Packers. He finished with 12.5 sacks, 19 solo tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 27 QB hits in 14 games.
The Packers didn't win a game after Parsons tore his ACL.
Former Arizona Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon is the Packers' new defensive coordinator. It will be fascinating to see if Green Bay takes Moton's advice and trades for Thibodeaux.
