Should the Green Bay Packers sign Nick Chubb?
The Green Bay Packers have been urged to sign veteran RB Nick Chubb.
Nick Halden of Dairyland Express believes the Packers should add Chubb to back up starter Josh Jacobs.
Chubb is an unrestricted free agent. He played for the Houston Texans last season.
"It appears the veteran is nearing the end of his career, as age and a lack of explosive ability are becoming a bit more obvious," Halden wrote. "Still, Chubb has consistently defied expectations throughout his career and was able to average 4.1 yards per carry in the 2025 season, despite playing in an incredibly predictable Houston Texans offense. For the Packers, it could be worth at least a tryout to see what level of health Chubb is in.
"The veteran rusher offered 1,525 yards in the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns and added in 12 touchdowns, speaking to his past ceiling. Even if Chubb is no longer this player, there is a benefit to having his presence in camp and the preseason, pushing the team's younger options fighting for time behind Jacobs."
In 15 games for the Texans last season, Chubb finished with 122 carries for 506 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. He also had 13 receptions for 67 receiving yards.
Jacobs' second season with the Packers wasn't as productive as his first year with the team. The three-time Pro Bowler had 929 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns last season. Jacobs, who made the Pro Bowl in his first season with the Packers, had 1,329 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in 2024.
It will be fascinating to see if the Packers sign Chubb. Green Bay was 15th in the NFL in rushing yards last season.
A four-time Pro Bowler, Chubb has played for the Cleveland Browns and Texans. He has 7,349 rushing yards and 54 rushing touchdowns in his career.
The Chicago Bears beat the Packers in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Chicago outscored Green Bay 25-6 to win the contest.
The Packers haven't won a playoff game since 2023.
