The Green Bay Packers won't be playing in Super Bowl LX. Instead, they'll have to watch from their couches like the rest of us.
Ultimatly, from the perspective of the Packers, it turned out to be a pretty dastardly matchup. On one side of the field is a major rival, the Seattle Seahawks. On the other sideline, a franchise that could very well give Green Bay a run for its money when it comes to the Title Town nickname. The New England Patriots have won six Super Bowls since 2000.
The Packers have won just one in that same timeframe.
So yes, it's going to be a bit of a tough watch, but there is actually a cool Green Bay tie to this Super Bowl matchup.
The two gentlemen who built the rosters for each of these Super Bowl teams, respectively, are former Packers scouts. That would be Eliot Wolf, 43, son of former Packers general manager Ron Wolf, and John Schneider, 54.
Wolf is the Patriots' executive vice president of player personnel and de facto general manager. Schneider is the president of football operations and general manager of the Seahawks.
Both men grew up in Green Bay. In fact, they both went to the same high school, although it was at different times and the school had a different name.
Still, it's a phenomenal story, and it's no coincidence.
Rob Demovsky of ESPN did a great piece on the tie between the two NFL executives, but you can make the case that everything they've become in their careers is because of their joint time with the Packers.
Schneider's first gig was as a scout for the Packers in 1993. He bounced around the league for a bit before coming back to Green Bay in 2002 and serving as the top personnel aide to the general manager. He was then elevated to director of football operations in 2008 and 2009 before the Seahawks stole him to be their general manager in 2010.

He stayed with the Packers and rose up the ranks, eventually becoming the Director of Football Operations in 2016 and 2017. He then went to the Cleveland Browns as their assistant general manager for two seasons before winding up in New England.
There, Wolf went from a consultant to the director of scouting to his current position, and he's thought of as the guy who shepherded the Patriots out of the Bill Belichick era and into this new one, which has seen them make the Super Bowl with a brand new head coach in Mike Vrabel and a second-year quarterback in Drake Maye.

It all originated in Green Bay, though.
"Just think about this: Two guys from the same high school up there in Green Bay are essentially the general managers of the two teams that are playing for the Super Bowl," Ron Wolf said, per Demovsky. "Think about that now, from that little town of 100,000 people."
