Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones sent a strong message to Green Bay Packers' star Micah Parsons prior to his return in week four.

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for their week four battle against the Dallas Cowboys, the drama surrounding the primetime matchup continues to intensify ahead before Sunday's contest.

When asked about his former star player Micah Parson on Friday, Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones told 105.3 The Fan that "there is a way to approach playing against Micah," and that he knows this because his franchise did not make the Super Bowl during his time in Dallas.

"Micah is special, and we all know he is," Jones stated. "He can be disruptive, but we have a huge amount of experience with the anecdote that we've seen used on us for the last four years. And while he does make great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah — as we know, because we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl those years."

Jones would then add that Dallas tried to use him as an advantage during his time with the franchise, but wished for more out of Parsons, especially in the run game.

"I think of us having [Parsons] as an advantage when we were playing other teams for the last four years," Jones added. "Some plays it looks beautiful, but then other plays, especially running plays, you wish you had a different formation.”

After an impressive two-year run with the Penn State Nittany Lions in 2018 and 2019, Parson would enter the 2021 NFL Draft and be selected by the Cowboys with the No. 12 pick. And despite the absurd fall in the draft, Parson quickly proved the league wrong and managed to record at least 12 sacks in each of his four years with the team, while also establishing himself as one of the best pass rushers in the NFL.

Unfortunately for Parsons, the 26-year-old star and Jones did not see eye-to-eye this offseason when discussing a potential extension with Dallas. This caused for Parsons to sit out during the preseason until the issue was resolved, but instead of working out a deal, Jones decided to send Parsons to Green Bay for the organization's 2026 and 2027 first-round picks, along with defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Once the trade was finalized, the Packers would then give Parsons a four-year, $188 million extension, with $120 million being fully guaranteed.

The seismic move to trade for an elite pass rusher like Parsons has already paid off for Green Bay this season, as his presence on the defensive line gives the team more flexibility in 2025. The highly-touted EDGE rusher ranks fourth in quarterback hits (4) and ninth in total pressures (15) in three games with his new team.

Parson's presence on defense has also created more opportunities for other defensive linemen on the roster to excel. 2022 fifth-round pick Kingsley Enagbare currently holds PFF's 27th-best defensive grade, while 2023 first-round pick Lukas Van Ness possesses the 37th EDGE rusher grade this season.

Now, Parsons has been given the opportunity to prove the longtime Cowboys owner wrong when the Packers travel to Dallas this weekend.
