Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd shared his thoughts on his new role in the offense.
The Green Bay Packers' running back room is facing some challenges as star Josh Jacobs is starting the season on the Commissioner's Exempt List. With Jacobs out, the Packers will be leaning on Lloyd as their starting running back.
"I'm ready to play as much as they want me to play," running back MarShawn Lloyd said. "I'm excited. It's a dream come true playing for the Packers, so however much carries I get, however much they put me in the game, I'm ready to go."
This is great news for Green Bay as Lloyd is fully healthy heading into the 2026 season. He has a ton of talent, but has only appeared in one game in his first two seasons in the league.
In that one game in the 2024 season, he rushed for 15 yards on six carries, along with one reception for three yards.
With a full season of Lloyd, the Packers will look to get the version of him that he played at during his time at USC. In the 2023 season at USC, he rushed for 820 yards and nine touchdowns on 116 carries while catching 13 passes for 252 yards.
He could be a breakout player for Green Bay's offense, but they will also lean on the passing attack with Jordan Love, Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jayden Reed, and Tucker Kraft.
Love is coming off a career year, as he completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions, and could be an MVP candidate in 2026 with the Packers leaning heavily on the passing game.
Lloyd will be the lead running back for Green Bay, with trade acquisition Kaleb Johnson as the secondary rusher for the offense.
Johnson is another unproven running back in the NFL, as he rushed for 69 yards on 28 carries with one reception for nine yards.
Although the run game will be a question mark for the Packers entering the 2026 season, they still have a ton of talent on the roster and will be contenders in the NFC as they look to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 2010.
