Matt LaFleur reveals Jordan Love's tough mindset amid injury while hinting at the crucial return of significant offensive playmakers to boost the Green Bay Packers' playoff push.

The Green Bay Packers are heading into what could be looked at as perhaps the biggest game of their 2025 season. It certainly felt that way when they squared off at Lambeau Field against the Detroit Lions -- despite the fact that it was only in Week 1.

The stakes are high against this Lions team, though, and that's a credit to their head coach, Dan Campbell. It used to be that the Lions were the laughingstock of the NFC North, but they've now won the division two seasons in a row, and they're who the Packers need to knock off to reclaim the division they once owned. That's what makes this game on Thanksgiving from Ford Field so important for the Packers.

The opportunity to go 2-0 against the Lions and 3-0 in the NFC North is on the line, and it's an opportunity the Packers ca't squander.

It's a big moment they need to meet head-on, and unfortunately, it's a moment they'll have to meet with their quarterback banged up.

Everyone is banged up at this point of the season, but you never want to see your quarterback on the injury report. Credit Jordan Love, because true to form as a Packers quarterback, he's one tough son of a gun. He is still dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered while rushing for yards against the New York Giants two weekends ago, though. Thankfully, it's his non-throwing shoulder, but it still is impacting things.

Mainly, on handoffs, he's been using his right hand only.

"I don't think you necessarily want to see that. I think it's not natural, and you never want to put the ball in jeopardy," head coach Matt LaFleur said on Wednesday regarding his quarterback using the wrong hand to hand off in certain situations, according to Zach Kruse of PackerWire. "Certainly, some of our passes will come off our actions. If you're not doing the right action, it can take away from that effect."

LaFleur is comfortable letting Love do what he has to do to stay in the game, but he's also acknowledging that what his franchise quarterback is doing is hard.

"It speaks a lot to him in regards to his mindset, his mentality and how tough he is," LaFleur said. "It takes a lot of physical and mental toughness to play the quarterback position, to stand in there, especially when you are injured, knowing you are going to get hit at some point."

The more the Packers can help protect Love with the running game, the better. We saw that work wonders in the win over the Minnesota Vikings, and you can bet LaFleur is going to give it another go against the Lions.

It would help if All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs was back from his knee injury, but LaFleur wasn't willing to comment much on that.

"We'll just see how he's feeling on gameday," he said of Jacobs.

It would also be great for the Packers to get back star receiver Jayden Reed, who hasn't played since Week 2 because of a broken collarbone and a foot injury. Reed was designated for return from injured reserve last Friday, and he absolutely could make his first appearance in a long time on Thursday.

Again, LaFleur didn't want to give much away on that front, either.

"You never know, you never know...You'll find out Thursday at noon," LaFleur said.

With superstar tight end Tucker Kraft and star interior offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins both out for the season with injuries, this offense will never be full strength this season.

Getting Jacobs and Reed both back on the field for the same game would be huge, though. Throw in a quarterback who we knew was talented but now we're also finding out how tough he is...and this offense very well could get back on track on Thanksgiving Day.
