The Green Bay Packers have an expensive payroll, but there is one player on the team outperforming his contract, according to Brad Gagnon of Bleacher Report.
The NFL analyst thinks CB Keisean Nixon "has become a fairly reliable starter after standing out for several years as a return specialist. The 28-year-old has outperformed the three-year, $18 million deal he signed in 2024."
Nixon appeared in all 17 games for the Packers last season. He finished with 17 passes defended, 58 solo tackles, three tackles for loss and one QB hit.
Nixon has been with the Packers since 2022. He has four interceptions, 32 passes defended, 3.5 sacks, 196 solo tackles, 15 tackles for loss and eight QB hits in a Green Bay uniform.
A South Carolina product, Nixon will be coached by Jonathan Gannon next season. The Packers hired the former Arizona Cardinals head coach as their new DC.
Gannon built one of the NFL's top defenses during a two-year run with the Philadelphia Eagles.
"We are thrilled to add Jonathan Gannon to our coaching staff. He possesses tremendous experience as an NFL coordinator and head coach," Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said. "I am confident that he will be an outstanding addition to our organization, as well as a strong leader of our defense. We welcome Jonathan, his wife, Gina, and their three children, Rocco, Lola and Angelo, to the Packers and the Green Bay community."
The Packers lost to the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Green Bay hasn't won a playoff game since 2023.
