The Green Bay Packers have claimed All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs off of waivers. Diggs was waived by the Dallas Cowboys after an underwhelming 2025 season.
He now joins a Packers team that is about to head into the postseason. Diggs also reunites with superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, as they played together in Dallas.
However, they won't reunite on the field as Parsons is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Diggs has not been a quality cornerback this season, as he has a passer rating of 158.3 when targeted.
Green Bay is hoping that Diggs can turn it around, and he was one of the best cornerbacks in the league back in 2021. He led the league in interceptions in that season and was named an All-Pro.
This is a low-risk, potentially high-reward move for the Packers. Green Bay's cornerback room has not been a strength this season. They have Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon as their outside corners, and they've both been inconsistent.
In the offseason, the Packers inked Nate Hobbs to a four-year $45 million deal. They wanted to transition Hobbs from the slot to an outside corner, but he struggled in that role and has dealt with multiple injuries.
Green Bay has a ton of injuries on the defense and just needs a cornerback they can throw out on the field. Diggs has the talent to be one of the league's best corners, and if the Packers keep him beyond this season, he could thrive by playing behind Parsons once again.
The Packers will take on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18, but are already locked into the playoffs and will be the No. 7 seed in the NFC.
They will take on either the Chicago Bears or the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card Round. With Hobs and safety Zayne Anderson out for at least their first playoff game, Diggs' role may be pivotal for the Packers in the playoffs.
While Diggs is no longer a star, Green Bay needed another body at cornerback, and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley will try to unlock back near the level he played at back in 2021.
