The Green Bay Packers could look to replace Dontayvion Wicks with a risky wide receiver.

The Green Bay Packers further shortened their wide receiver room on Friday, trading Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles for a couple of draft picks.

Now, the Packers only have two receivers under contract past 2026: Matthew Golden and Savion Williams. That's it.

While Green Bay could always re-sign both Jayden Reed and Christian Watson, you would think the Packers would want to add some security at the position moving forward, which is why we now cannot rule out Green Bay taking a wide receiver with its top draft choice at No. 52.

Yes, the Packers have glaring needs at cornerback and edge rusher, but they also need to ensure that Jordan Love has the proper weapons at his disposal.

This is a very deep receiver class, so there should be no shortage of options for Green Bay to choose from, but one player is particularly striking: Louisville's Chris Bell.

Bell definitely carries legitimate risk considering he just tore his ACL back in late November, but he also displayed tremendous talent when he was on the field.

The burly 6-foot-2, 220-pound wide out hauled in 72 receptions for 917 yards and six touchdowns in 2025 and accumulated 12 touchdown grabs throughout his four-year career with the Cardinals.

Bell arrived at Louisville in 2022 and began earning serious playing time during his sophomore campaign, when he caught 29 passes for 407 yards and a couple of scores. He then snared 43 balls for 737 yards and four touchdowns in 2024, averaging a hefty 17.1 yards per catch.

Had it not been for the injury, there was probably a chance that Bell could have snuck into the back end of the first round of the draft, but now, he is generally being viewed as a Day 2 pick.

Whether or not he lasts until No. 52 is anyone's guess, but if he is on the board when the Packers are on the clock, they might consider him.

Bell is one of the more versatile receivers in this upcoming group and is also a good blocker, so he would help Green Bay's offense in more ways than one.

Because there will be so many good wide receivers available in this year's draft, the Packers may decide to wait a little bit to take one, but if they choose to go with a receiver right off the bat, Bell could be a terrific choice ... even if the ACL injury is a bit scary.
