The Green Bay Packers suffered an atrocious loss to the Minnesota Vikings to open the 2026 season.
The Green Bay Packers suffered a horrendous Week 1 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The Packers controlled the game early on, but Minnesota rattled off 29 unanswered points at the end of the game to take a 39-22 win.
Green Bay's offensive line was abysmal, as Jordan Love was constantly under pressure in the second half. Love was sacked four times, fumbled once, and also threw an interception that was tipped at the line when under pressure.
Love was forced to throw it quickly on almost every down, and in some cases, he was sacked before getting to look downfield.
When he did have time, he was effective as a passer, completing 21 of 42 passes for 387 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Green Bay's weapons played well, as Christian Watson had six receptions for 147 yards and two touchdowns while Matthew Golden added six receptions for 95 yards.

However, none of it mattered, as Green Bay couldn't consistently give Love time in the pocket to deliver downfield, leading to their loss.
The Packers couldn't get the run game going at all as MarShawn Lloyd had 13 carries for 37 yards while Chris Brooks added 29 yards on seven carries.
On defense, Green Bay's pass rush got home with three sacks while cornerback Keisean Nixon had an interception. It was a decent showing for the defense, but they had some costly penalties in the fourth quarter.
In addition to the offensive line struggling, head coach Matt LaFleur also made some questionable calls, including going for it on 4th-and-1 after the Vikings committed a penalty on a field goal that Trey Smack made. That decision cost Green Bay three points.
The Packers have plenty of work to do heading into Week 2 against the New York Jets, and if their offensive line doesn't improve, it will be a very long season.
