The Green Bay Packers have been given a bold prediction centered around star wideout Justin Jefferson ahead of Week 1.

The Green Bay Packers are getting ready to open the new NFL season, looking for some redemption from a year ago.

Green Bay went on a five-game losing streak to end the 2025 season, seeing themselves fall to being a wild-card team in the NFC. The Packers ended up losing in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the rival Chicago Bears, adding insult to injury.

So, coming into the 2026 season, Green Bay is looking to change the narrative around this group. The Packers will be taking on the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 on the road, giving them a chance to earn a big division win early in the year.

Minnesota and Green Bay have played each other well in the past, with each team wanting bragging rights over the other. Additionally, the NFC North is expected to be very competitive this season, giving whichever team gets the win an early advantage.

The Vikings will have a new quarterback this season in Kyler Murray, giving them some extra firepower to work with. And the Packers will be the first team to see how he gels with his new team.

Editor Brooke Cersosimo of NFL. com predicted that Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson would record at least 200 yards in the opening game this weekend. This was part of a bold prediction series heading into the first weekend of the season.

"The last time the Vikings hosted the Packers in Week 1 -- back in 2022 -- Jefferson torched the Green Bay defense for 184 yards and two TDs on nine catches. Four years later, Jefferson bests that outing by eclipsing 200 receiving yards in his first game with Kyler Murray under center," Cersosimo wrote.

Jefferson is coming off a down year with the Vikings in 2025, posting 1,048 yards and just two touchdowns. The Vikings offense couldn't do much last season, with Jefferson suffering the most.

So coming into this game, the Packers defense will need to be aware of Jefferson, with Minnesota likely to target him early and often. Murray will want to get into a strong rhythm to open the year, nd the best way would be to throw to Jefferson.

Green Bay will need to make sure that they make Murray uncomfortable, getting him out of control early in the game. Luckily for the Packers, they do have a strong pass rush, even without star Micah Parsons due to injury.

If Jefferson goes off for 200 yards, the Packers could be in some trouble. But Green Bay will do its best to prevent this, hoping to get a big win to kick off the 2026 season.
