A Green Bay Packers' insider reveals the two critical keys to sustaining their winning streak and becoming a true Super Bowl contender.

The Green Bay Packers have to be feeling good. They shouldn't be content, because there is still a ton of football yet to be played and they have bigger and better goals. With that said, they are 8-3-1, 3-0 against NFC North opponents and riding a three-game winning streak.

Things could be much worse in Title Town. Heck, at times this season it appeared that the idea that this team could be a Super Bowl contender was fool's gold.

The Packers have slowly but surely been figuring it out, but continuing to play winning football is vital.

Green Bay has a huge stretch coming up where they play the NFC-leading Chicago Bears twice in three weeks with a game against the AFC West-leading Denver Broncos sandwiched in between.

Basically, if this Packers team is a Super Bowl contender, we'll know it by the end of this stretch. A 3-0 record in these next three games would mean the Packers could compete with teams like the Bears and Los Angeles Rams on top of the NFC standings for the No. 1-seed.

Heck, even a 2-1 record would be good, but a 1-2 or, heaven forbid, 0-3 record over these next few games would mean that all the hopes and dreams fans have of this Packers team hoisting a Lombardi Trophy in 2025 are probably foolish.

So winning is important, and that's an understatement. How do the Packers keep doing that down the home stretch? Team insider Mike Spofford has two major keys for this team to focus on.

"Keep the penalties to a minimum and the turnovers nonexistent," he said when asked in a mailbag feature how the Packers can keep their momentum up. "In other words, don't beat yourself. Make the other team beat you. Not impossible, but this team is tough to beat when it's not self-inflicting."

These are great points from Spofford, because this team has all the talent in the world to finish this season 13-3-1 and as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Do they have it between their ears, though?

That's a tough question, because we've seen things like penalties and turnovers be problems in their three losses (and the tie) this season. The Packers committed 10 penalties in the Week 3 loss to the Browns while Jordan Love threw a terrible interception.

Heck, they struggled with penalties in some wins. The Packers committed 10 penalties each in wins over the Washington Commanders and Arizona Cardinals, respectively.

To Spofford's point, though, this team is hard to beat when they play clean. It's no coincidence that the Packers are on a winning streak while Love hasn't thrown an interception in four straight games.

The Packers have also cut down on the penalties. From 10 in a game to 10 over the course of three games, head coach Matt LaFleur has this team playing more disclipine.

Can they sustain it? That's the question now, but that's the clear formula for winning games in the NFL.

This team can only beat itself. That's a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.
