Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love has received a stellar MVP ranking from ESPN NFL analyst Bill Barnwell.
Love comes in third, trailing only New England Patriots QB Drake Maye (1) and Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (2).
"Love has thrown exactly as many passes as Maye, but Maye has been slightly more productive across the board," Barnwell wrote. "That has come against an easier schedule, but like Love, Maye hasn't had a No. 1 receiver to work with on a consistent basis. If the Packers do stick the landing, get some help from the West and finish as the top seed in the NFC, Love would be a deserving MVP pick. He's just outside the top two for me."
Love has 3,028 passing yards and 22 passing touchdowns on the season. He's completing 67.1% of his passes for the Packers, who are in first place in the NFC North and second place in the NFC with a record of 9-3-1.
"When Love throws the ball, he's very good, if not quite as spectacular as the passers ahead of him on this list," Barnwell wrote. "He's seventh in yards per attempt and 10th in success rate. ESPN has a metric called adjusted completion percentage, which removes drops and throwaways and weighs accuracy for air yards. Love's 74.9% adjusted completion percentage is second in the league."
The Packers are Super Bowl contenders with Love leading the offense and Micah Parsons leading the defense.
Green Bay is 10th in the NFL in points per game and sixth in points per game allowed.
Love and the Packers have four games left in the regular season. They face the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings.
Love has done a terrific job of protecting the ball this season. After throwing 11 picks last season, Love only has four interceptions this season.
That needs to continue for the Packers to win another Super Bowl.
