The Green Bay Packers have made a pair of significant moves at cornerback.

The Green Bay Packers' secondary was certainly a major point of contention last season, as general manager Brian Gutekunst failed to add enough pieces to the unit last spring.

The Packers did sign Nate Hobbs to a four-year, $48 million deal in free agency, but injuries limited him to just 11 games, and when he was on the field, he struggled.

Well, Green Bay has decided to cut the cord with Hobbs after just one year, deciding to release the 26-year-old, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

The Packers have also signed former Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Benjamin St-Juste, per Ian Rapoport of NFL media.

The addition of St-Juste could essentially be viewed as a corresponding move to Hobbs' release, although Green Bay still needs to add some more bodies at the cornerback position.

St-Juste played 16 games for the Chargers in 2025, registering 37 tackles and seven passes defended while posting a 77.1 coverage grade at Pro Football Focus, which actually ranked eighth out of 114 qualifying corners.

Prior to his brief stint in Los Angeles, St-Juste spent the first four years of his career with the Washington Commanders, where he struggled.

In fact, during his final season with the Commanders in 2024, St-Juste managed just a 46.8 coverage grade, one of the worst marks of any cornerback in the league.

The former third-round pick is unique in the fact that he stands 6-foot-3, so he possesses tremendous size for a defensive back. But up until this past year, his coverage skills have left much to be desired.

There is no question that the Packers need to bring in another cornerback at some point this offseason, whether that's via free agency or the NFL Draft. Green Bay cannot continue to ignore the position.

While the Packers do not own a first-round pick this year, the good news is that this is a very deep draft class at the cornerback position, so Green Bay should still be able to pick up a nice prospect on Day 2 if it so pleases.

The Packers have had one of the strongest defenses in football the last several years, but cornerback has remained an issue. We'll see if Gutekunst finally fixes the problem in the coming weeks.
