The Green Bay Packers have been handed a strong prediction about the 2026 season from a notable NFL insider.

Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers will head into the 2026 NFL season with high expectations and big-time goals.

After the heartbreaking finish to last year, the team is facing a lot of pressure.

While Ed Policy may have decided to avoid making sweeping changes this offseason, a bad season could force him to reconsider that choice. If the Packers were to fall apart and miss the playoffs, heads could roll in Green Bay.

Needless to say, it would be very surprising to see the Packers miss the playoffs. Simply looking at the roster, there is enough talent in place for the team to be a Super Bowl contender.

Sports Illustrated NFL insider Albert Breer agrees with that statement. He has named Green Bay as a legitimate Super Bowl contender heading into training camp.

Breer did mention a couple of questions the Packers will need to answer.

"I put the Packers alongside the Seahawks last year, as a team that could win it all if a bunch of young players elevated from good to great. I feel the same way this year. It’s a talented roster," Breer wrote.

"So the question is whether guys such as Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Jordan Morgan, Lukas Van Ness, Devonte Wyatt and Edgerrin Cooper can take their games to another level, and of course, how guys like Micah Parsons and Tucker Kraft look coming back from knee injuries. A lot of pieces are in place."

Green Bay will need to see multiple players take their game to another level. Christian Watson and Jayden Reed have been handed big extension at wide receiver. They both will need to handle larger workloads with both Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks gone.

Defensively, the Packers are expected to be without Micah Parsons for at least half of the season. Lukas Van Ness has never shown the talent Green Bay hoped to get when the team drafted him No. 13 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Only time will tell whether or not the Packers live up to the hype. Jordan Love taking another step forward would also be a big help, but the pieces are in place.

Now, Green Bay needs to put it all together. The team needs to figure out how to finish games, which starts with LaFleur. Everyone involved will need to up their production, which could lead to a deep playoff run if that happens.
