This Green Bay Packers weapon could have a big year in 2026.

The Green Bay Packers' receiving corps has undergone quite a case of clean house this offseason, as the Packers let Romeo Doubs walk via free agency and then proceeded to trade Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles.

As of right now, Matthew Golden and Savion Williams are the only two Green Bay wide receivers under contract beyond 2026, although you do have to assume the Packers will extend at least one of the two of Jayden Reed and Christian Watson.

But with Doubs and Wicks both gone, someone will need to step up behind Reed and Watson next season.

Golden is the popular choice, and understandably so. He was the team's first-round pick last April, and he caught 29 passes for 361 yards on 44 targets in 2025. For what it's worth, Golden had nearly as many targes as Wicks (46).

However, Williams is the player I am watching as a potential breakout candidate for 2026, at least in terms of him being a major sleeper.

When the Packers nabbed Williams in the third round of the NFL Draft last spring, I instantly knew they landed a stud. Brian Gutekunst must have thought so, as well. Why else would he take another receiver so early in the draft?

The fact that Green Bay so easily parted ways with both Doubs and Wicks this offseason is further evidence of its confidence in Williams.

Williams didn't see a ton of action during his rookie campaign, logging 10 catches for 78 yards and a touchdown while also carrying the ball 11 times for 37 yards. He also served as a returner, fielding 28 kicks for 717 yards.

But it's what the 24-year-old did on the collegiate level that has me so excited to watch him long term.

During his final season at TCU, Williams hauled in 60 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns. Additionally, he rushed for 322 yards and six scores.

At the time of the draft last year, I had him tabbed as a Deebo Samuel type ... but significantly larger.

Williams stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 222 pounds, and he was still able to run a 4.48 in the 40-yard dash. Perhaps not so coincidentally, Samuel ran the same speed at his own Scouting Combine back in 2019.

Obviously, the towering playmaker also has a much greater catch radius than Samuel. Yes, he is still very raw, but the potential is tantalizing.

Look for the Packers to use Williams considerably more next fall, both in the rushing attack and through the air.

The Marshall, Tx. native could ultimately develop into one of the most unique Packers weapons in recent memory before you can blink.
