Luke Getsy spoke about Tyrod Taylor and Jordan Love.
Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach/assistant head coach Luke Getsy is looking forward to working with Tyrod Taylor next season.
The Packers signed Taylor as their No. 2 QB after Malik Willis left Green Bay for the Miami Dolphins in free agency.
"He's only been here a couple days, but the cool part when he walked in the room, you could feel the presence, the confidence, the composure," Getsy said about Taylor, via Packers.com. "He's seen a lot. He's been in a lot of different systems, so (you can see) how quickly he's able to pick up on things. He showed up when we're going right to drills and he's a true pro and it was pretty cool to see. As far as the juice, he's definitely still got that."
Taylor, who turns 37 in August, appeared in six games for the New York Jets last season. He had 779 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and five interceptions. The veteran completed 59.7% of his passes and went 1-3 as a starter.
Taylor took over for Justin Fields, who started nine games before getting benched after the Jets lost to the New England Patriots.
Taylor has been in the NFL since 2011. He has played for the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans, New York Giants and Jets. He has 13,033 passing yards and 73 passing touchdowns in his career.
Packers starter Jordan Love has turned into a solid QB under Matt LaFleur. Love finished last season with 3,381 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns while completing 66.3% of his passes.
The 27-year-old Love enters next season with 11,535 passing yards and 83 passing touchdowns. He's 27-20-1 as a starter.
"When I stepped away, it was just two seasons with him, so a pretty big difference in maturity, of the command of the offense," Getsy said about Love. "It was just a lot of fun when I step back in it and got to see him really running the show and him in complete control and the comfortability. I think one of his best traits is just that his cool, calm, collected mentality, and then just seeing that match with all the high-level functionality of the mental part of the game, it was really cool to see that when I got back, just a natural growth for his game.
"You're in a meeting, it's him standing up, it's him making comments, it's him talking about the situation where, last time I'm here, it was him just taking the notes and listening to everything. So, he's done a really nice job of taking that next step and taking the lead, and not just in the quarterback room but in that entire unit."
The Packers lost to the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round of the 2026 playoffs. Green Bay hasn't won a playoff game since 2023.
