The Green Bay Packers have made a rather strange quarterback decision before the NFL Draft.

Jordan Love is the Green Bay Packers' franchise quarterback. The Packers aren't looking for alternatives. At least for now.

However, Green Bay could certainly use another backup after Malik Willis defected via free agency this offseason, and right now, Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord represent the team's top options in that regard.

Many are expecting the Packers to pick up another quarterback at some point in the NFL Draft, so it should not come as a surprise that they have been hosting signal-callers for top-30 visits.

But what's really odd is that Green Bay has refused to reveal one of the quarterbacks with whom it visited. In fact, while the Packers told insider Bill Huber that they recently met with a quarterback, they asked him not to report who it was.

Green Bay had no problem publicizing its visit with Texas Tech's Behren Morton, but that's probably because he might go undrafted altogether.

So is it possible that the Packers met with one of the better quarterbacks in this year's draft class and don't want to risk playing their hand?

It's definitely an odd situation.

Love absolutely does not seem at any risk of being replaced. He can be frustrating at times, but for the most part, he has been a good signal-caller for Green Bay since taking the starting job in 2023.

But perhaps the Packers want to put some pressure on him?

Could the mystery man be someone like Penn State's Drew Allar, who was viewed as a potential top-five pick heading into 2025 but saw his draft stock plummet thanks to a rough six games followed by a broken ankle?

Carson Beck and Diego Pavia are other names that have been floated as possibilities, and it should be noted that Green Bay was connected to 6-foot-6 Taylen Green earlier in the process.

Whoever it is, it's clear that the Packers don't want any other teams finding out, which makes it rather obvious that Green Bay is very serious about potentially drafting him.

The Packers own eight picks in this year's NFL Draft. They don't have a first-rounder due to the Micah Parsons trade, so their first selection is at No. 52.
