Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd suffered an injury during his rehab.
The Green Bay Packers continue to get hit by the injury bug as running back MarShawn Lloyd has suffered another hamstring injury in recent days.
Lloyd had been working back toward a return, but with another injury, he may not return this season for Green Bay.
The Packers took Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he has only appeared in one regular season game.
That came in the 2024 season, where Lloyd had six rushing attempts for 15 yards and one reception for three yards.
The 24-year-old running back was drafted to be the speed back for the Packers and bring a different element to the offense outside of Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson.
Lloyd showcased his talent in his junior season at USC, rushing for 820 yards and nine touchdowns. He added 13 receptions for 232 yards.
The Packers don't have reinforcements coming on offense and will need their current core to elevate down the stretch.
The defense is likely to regress now that superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons is out for the season with a torn ACL. Parsons was a game wrecker for Green Bay, as he had 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 26 quarterback hits.
The Packers won't be able to replicate Parsons' pass rush, which will put more pressure on the offense to play at a high level.
Green Bay will lean on the run game of Jacobs and Wilson. On the season, Jacobs has rushed for 890 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has also hauled in 33 receptions for 270 yards and a touchdown.
Wilson has also contributed, rushing for 354 yards and three touchdowns, along with 13 receptions for 87 yards.
Their third-down back, Chris Brooks, has also been impactful, particularly as a pass blocker. While they likely won't get back the speed element of Lloyd, the Packers have a strong running back room.
Head coach Matt LaFleur and quarterback Jordan Love will need to play elite football down the stretch as Green Bay looks to make a deep playoff run despite the injury to Parsons.
