Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur delivered a strong message on offensive lineman Jager Burton.
The Green Bay Packers are entering a pivotal season in 2026 as they need to capitalize on their Super Bowl window.
However, Green Bay does have some changes heading into the season. They are banking on younger talent stepping into bigger roles after allowing some starters to leave this offseason.
On the offensive line, the Packers allowed starting left tackle Rasheed Walker to leave in free agency to the Carolina Panthers, opening the door for Jordan Morgan to start in 2026.
While Morgan is taking over the left tackle position, rookie Jager Burton could play a role for Green Bay.
"He's definitely going to be in the mix for playing time this year," head coach Matt LaFleur said.
The Packers selected Burton in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he could now be a starter at guard or a top backup for the team.

In 2025, Love completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,381 yards, 23 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He will look to build upon that season and lead Green Bay on a deep run in the playoffs in 2026.
Love has a talented array of weapons, including wide receivers Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, and Jayden Reed, as well as tight end Tucker Kraft.
Watson appeared in 10 games for the Packers, finishing with 35 receptions for 611 yards and six touchdowns. He inked a four-year $92 million extension with Green Bay and will play a bigger role after Romeo Doubs left in free agency for the New England Patriots and Dontayvion Wicks was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.
While the Packers have some talented weapons and Love at quarterback, they will need to lean on their offensive line to give Love time to deliver downfield passes. Their rookie fifth-round pick, Burton, could play a factor for Green Bay's offensive line unit.
