Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich shared Matthew Golden's role in the playoffs.

The Green Bay Packers are heading into Week 18 with their playoff spot already clinched. The Packers plan to rest all their starters as they are already locked into the No. 7 seed in the NFC.

As the regular season winds down, first-round pick Matthew Golden hasn't had much of an impact for Green Bay's offense, and that's unlikely to change.

"He’s not gonna be in that premier role when the playoffs come around," Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said about Golden's role in the postseason.

He added that the Packers have too many mouths to feed at receiver. In 13 games for Green Bay this season, he has 28 receptions for 353 yards and has yet to find the endzone. Golden has also rushed for 49 yards on 10 carries.

The Packers drafted him with the 23rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft to be one of the top weapons for quarterback Jordan Love and the offense.

Golden currently plays behind wide receivers Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, and even Bo Melton at times.

Watson, Doubs, and Reed make sense to be in front of Golden as they have played well. However, Golden should be the fourth option at a minimum, especially over Melton, who was turned into a defensive back this offseason, but has been receiving snaps on offense.

Golden has shown that he can be a deep threat and make contested catches. He could be a big help for the Packers in the playoffs, as they will need to be aggressive in the passing attack.

Green Bay has suffered a ton of season-ending injuries to key players, including to superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, tight end Tucker Kraft, and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt.

This puts a lot of pressure on Love to elevate his play and carry the team to postseason wins. Limiting Golden's role in the playoffs only hurts Love and the offense's chances of stepping up and leading the Packers to playoff victories.

With Golden unlikely to have a big role in the playoffs, he may have to wait till the 2026 season to become one of Green Bay's top weapons.
