The Green Bay Packers suffered an absolutely devastating loss last week, as tight end Tucker Kraft went down with a torn ACL, knocking him out for the remainder of the season.
The Packers were unable to complete a trade for another tight end at the NFL trade deadline, meaning former second-round pick Luke Musgrave will now take center stage in the tundra.
Remember: Green Bay originally drafted Musgrave one round ahead of Kraft in 2023, so the Packers have always liked what they have seen from the Oregon State product.
Jordan Love seems more than ready to utilize Musgrave in the passing game and thinks that the 25-year-old will be able to produce just fine with Kraft on the shelf.
“I think Luke does a lot of things well,” Love said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “His speed is something that I feel not a lot of tight ends have … That’s definitely a weapon. With Tuck being out, he’s going to obviously see a lot more reps. It’s just maximizing all those reps and finding ways to improve and just keep stacking it. He does a lot of good things. I think he’s gotten a lot better in the pass game, his route-running ability. I think his confidence in himself is pretty high right now.”

Rebilas-Imagn Images.Musgrave actually displayed plenty of potential during his rookie campaign, catching 31 passes for 352 yards and a touchdown in 11 games. Unfortunately, injuries severely hindered Musgrave over his first couple of seasons, which allowed Kraft to permanently steal the starting job.
In fact, Musgrave managed just seven grabs for 45 yards in seven contests last season, and thus far in 2025, he has tallied nine receptions for 88 yards (although three of those catches came against the Carolina Panthers last Sunday).
Musgrave did not post big-time numbers in college, but he is a freakish athlete who put together an incredible Scouting Combine, allowing him to rocket up draft boards.
And let's be honest: the Bend, Or. native did flash a whole lot of promise when he was healthy in Year 1, so maybe he can help the Packers' offense not skip a beat in spite of the loss of Kraft.
Green Bay is 5-2-1 on the campaign and will face the Philadelphia Eagles in a potential NFC Championship Game preview on Monday night.
